Frequently Asked Questions

Why does “10” sort before “2” alphabetically?

Alphabetic sorting compares text character by character. “1” comes before “2” as a character, regardless of what number the full string represents.

Does sorting remove duplicates?

No. Sorting only reorders the list. Use a separate duplicate-removal step if you also need to deduplicate.
